Movement & Painting with Light Reflection Questions:
Slow Shutter Speed:
1.) Approximately what shutter speed did you use to purposely blur action?
I approximately used a 30 second shutter speed.
2.) Did you use a tripod? Why or why not?
Yes, a tripod was used because the shutter speed was so slow that if the camera was not on a tripod and it moved then the picture would become extremely blurry.
3.) What part of the image shows motion?
The part of the image that shows motion would be the hands and feet because they are blurred out because of the motion.
4.) Describe any compositional elements that are used to strengthen the photo. How did you use them?
(rule of thirds, line, shape, pattern, point of view, edge of the frame, etc.)
Another element in the photo that I believe enhances the photo would be that the other subjects in the photo are in motion and blurry just as the main subject of the picture. Also the picture looks grainy, but I believe that it gives the photo some texture, and it makes it look somewhat vintage.
Fast Shutter Speed:
1.) Approximately what shutter speed did you use to purposely freeze action?
The shutter speed used to purposely freeze the action would be 1/600
2.) What action did you freeze?
A girl kicking her leg in the air.
3.) What was your distance and point of view?
The distance was about a couple meters. The point of view was straight on.
4.) Describe any compositional elements that are used to strengthen the photo. How did you use them?
(rule of thirds, line, shape, pattern, point of view, edge of the frame, etc.)
Any computational elements used in the photo of the leg extension would be line and pattern. The direct lines would be found in the window panes, and in the reflection of the window panes on the floor. Also lines can be found in all the wood work. The patterns can be found in the pieces of artwork found behind the girl.
Blurry Background Focused Subject:
1.) Approximately what shutter speed did you use to achieve this photo?
1/600
2.) Did you use a tripod? Why or why not?
A tripod was not used because you do not need the whole picture in focus, or for the photo to be leveled.
3.) What parts of the image show motion? Describe.
The people in the background of photo 1 are jumping around like the girl in the photo as well.
4.) Describe any composition elements that are used to strengthen the photo. How did you use them?
(rule of thirds, line, shape, pattern, point of view, edge of the frame, etc.)
The composition element used in this photo would be line because the lines of the ceiling bars and of the trampolines are leading your eyes through the picture.
5.) What type of mood or feeling does this photo give? Describe.
The type of mood this photo gives would be excitement. Everything in the photo is in motion, and crazy.
Drawing With Light:
1.) Approximately what shutter speed did you use to achieve this photo?
A 30 second shutter speed was used for these photos.
2.) What light source did to create the "painting"?
A cell phone was the light source used to create the photos
3.) How did you achieve the image / effect?
I drew different shapes in the air with my phone as the camera was slowly capturing each movement the light source made.
4.) What impact does the photo have? How would the viewer feel looking at your photo?
The impact these photos have would be that the light is free in some way, it knows no boundaries. When someone views this pictures I believe they will feel a freedom in the creativity of the color and the vibrance of the light.
